In February 2024, I brought together 36 critical scholars, activists, and community organizers from around the world to share their experiences researching and contesting carceral AI systems. We use the term 'carceral AI' to refer to a broad class of algorithmic and data-driven technologies designed to police, incarcerate, surveil, and control human beings. As a community, we stand against the use of carceral technologies. The participants are now collectively drafting a critical report to provide a resource for researchers, community organizers, and policy-makers to get informed about the impacts of carceral AI (forthcoming in fall 2024).
